Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)

is the ‘bricks and mortar’ capital component of disability accommodation supports funded by the NDIS. SDA is not the face to face supports that NDIS participants may receive to assist them with their activities of daily living.

When a person is eligible for SDA, the NDIA includes funding in their NDIS plan. Contact Achieve Ability Housing directly to find out what information you need in order to qualify for SDA funding. SDA is funding for the cost of the home the person lives in.

There are 4 different categories of SDA:

Each category has specialised design features in-built into the ‘bricks and mortar’. All SDA categories are designed to support persons who live with an extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. It is important to identify what category a participant requires in order to find the most suitable housing option. Not all people with disability are eligible to receive SDA funding from NDIS. Only 6 percent of NDIS participants receiving SDA in their NDIS plans.
